The 32-year-old actress is most famous for playing April Ludgate on hit television show Parks and Recreation, and has also had roles in films such as Dirty Grandpa and the upcoming Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.
Just days after admitting she has had experiences with women, Aubrey has officially revealed her sexuality in an interview with LGBT magazine The Advocate.
“I know I have an androgynous thing going on, and there’s something masculine about my energy,” she said. “Girls are into me that’s no secret. Hey, I’m into them too. I fall in love with girls and guys. I can’t help it.”
Aubrey has also explored her sexuality on screen, playing a lesbian in 2015 movie Addicted to Fresno. The role saw her lock lips with Natasha Lyonne but that wasn’t something Aubrey was against.
“(My role was) less about pretending to be a lesbian and more about portraying a human being with a massive crush on Natasha Lyonne’s character,” she explained. “Natasha’s a friend, and she called me up, like, ‘Do you want to come do a movie and make out with me?’ I have a major crush on her in real life, so it was fun.”
Aubrey added during the interview that she always had an idea about her sexuality when she was growing up because her passions were so different from those around her.
“My tastes are like an older gay man’s, and I think that’s who I really am,” she smiled. “Like, I grew up obsessed with Judy Garland, and I was also obsessed with how much she meant to her following.”
Aubrey first spoke about her past relationship with another woman on U.S. chat show Watch What Happens Live last month (Jun16). While she didn’t reveal any details about the same sex experience, she did confirm it took place.
Host Andy Cohen then followed up and asked Aubrey if she enjoyed it, to which the actress replied: “Yeah”.
