Not even a month after she vowed to quit social media “for good,” Azealia Bank has seemingly returned to — surprise, surprise — stir some shit up with her controversial presence. Proving that she still hasn’t learned her lesson, the “212” rapper verbally has once again attacked Zayn Malik, making some truly transphobic remarks in the process.
As seen in a screenshot currently circulating online, Banks commented on an Instagram post about Malik’s latest GQ spread, writing, “He legit looks like he used to be a girl. He gives me transman teas.”
However, fans quickly rallied behind Malik, burying her remark with their own clapbacks.
“Lol yall know Banks got this man’s name on Alerts. Has she recovered since getting kicked off headlining her first major gig?” one user wrote.
Another added, “Banks is going to jail one day for being a cyber bully.”
In May, Banks’ Twitter account was suspended after she tweeted a series of racial and homophobic slurs at Malik, calling him a “hairy curry scented bitch” as well as a “f*ggot” to incite a reaction from the half-Pakistani singer. After losing a headlining gig at the U.K. festival Born & Bred, her she apologized to the former One Direction member and swore to never use the word “f*ggot” again.
“The amount of people that get hurt when I use the word vs. the amount of people I’ve said it to are just not worth it,” she wrote at the time. “This isn’t a cop out, its just me realizing that words hurt.”
Clearly, she didn’t really make good on that promise.
