Beyoncé is one of the best MTV VMA performers of all time.
Queen Bey has dominated the awards show for the past 16 years, whether she’s giving us legendary performances like her Michael Jackson Vanguard Video Vanguard Award medley in 2014 that was nothing short of ***flawless, or she’s unintentionally stealing the spotlight from her fellow nominees with her greatness (with the subtle help of Kanye West).
Beyoncé is up for 11 VMAs awards this year, including Video of the Year and Best Female Video for “Formation,” making her the artist with the most nominations this VMA season.
To celebrate the Queen’s amazing VMA year, we’re taking a look back at her most iconic moments that have gone down in MTV VMAs history.
Even from her first VMAs in 2000 with Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé was sweeping the awards show with wins. The group snagged 10 nominations that year and took home the Best R&B video moon man, the first of the 16 moon men she’d go on to win (and counting).
On the VMA stage, Beyoncé has blessed us with some of her best performances, like her 2011 performance of “Love on Top,” which closed the show with a mic drop and the happiest pregnancy reveal we’ve ever seen.
And of course, we must not forget one of the most memorable moments of the MTV VMAs,when Beyoncé became the reason for what would become an everlasting feud between Kanye West and Taylor Swift at the 2009 awards show. Kanye stormed the stage, Taylor became famous, and Beyoncé simply looked like she very much wanted to be excluded from that narrative.
