Some of the music industry’s biggest names have united in a powerful PSA to raise awareness of racial injustice in America.
Following the recent tragic police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, a group of celebrities including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Drake and many others have joined forces in creating a PSA, stating ’23 Ways You Could Be Killed If You Are Black In America’.
The heart-breaking video draws attention to the horrific reasons black people have been murdered by police with aims of putting an end to systematic racism in the United States.
Alicia keys lists “failing to signal a lane change” as a reason, referring to the police murder of Sandra Bland last year, while Beyoncé states “riding in your girlfriend’s car with a child in the back” as the reason behind the recent murder of Philando Castile last week. After all reasons are listed by the stars, Keys, who helped organize the video as part of her We Are Here Movement, concludes it with a strong message, saying:
“We demand radical transformation to heal the long history of systemic racism,” she says, “so that all Americans have the equal right to live and to pursue happiness.”
