Derren Brown opened his take on the ghost train at Thorpe Park and we can say first hand that it’s very terrifying.
Forget the rickety, old ghost trains you know from your childhood, this is all about mind manipulation and human psychology. We don’t want to give too much away, but it took Brown three years to create and the design is inspired by a Victorian train depot at Willesden Green.
The train is a seven-tonne London tube suspended by metal chains on which riders have to wear gas masks. It’s fully immersive (4D, live action and grand illusion) and the scenes that unfold are pretty close to the bone, considering recent world events. It plays on the idea of a dystopian world which is quickly imploding like Orwell’s 1984 meets Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later.

The experience will linger with you long after you’ve got off the train the park’s rollercoasters seem tame in comparison.
But, if you’re an adrenaline junkie who loves horror films, Brown’s ghost train will fuck with your mind and leave you thinking, ‘what the hell just happened?’
So, who is excited!
