Anne Hathaway posts a moving message on Instagram remembering her mentor following his death on Tuesday.
The 33 year old actress, who starred in three Garry Marshall movies “Princess Diaries”, “Princess Diaries 2:Royal Engagement” and “Valentine’s Day”, she posted a short and touching message before following it up with a lengthy anecdote remembering her time with the late director.
“Heaven just got funnier” she wrote in the first post before thanking him for “everything”. The sad news of the Pretty Woman director’s passing was announced on 20th of July as he died at a California Hospital age 81, following complications with Pneumonia after suffering from a stroke.
The actress then posted a throwback of herself on set with Garry and her Princess Diaries co-star Julie Andrews with a touching tribute. “Garry was goodness itself. He was generous. He was kind beyond kind. He was thoughtful and sweet and so funny you would pee yourself a little. I’m so happy I made three films with him. I’m so happy he blessed my son in my belly the last time I saw him (we never think it will be the last time).”
The star also shared the life changing advice she had received from the movie maker, saying: “Before we made the Princess Diaries, he told me ‘You never know if a movie is going to be a hit or not. The only thing you can control is the memories you make while shooting it. So, let’s make some good memories.’ That advice changed my life even more than the film did.”
She ended her message on a sweet note by wishing her friend “safe travels”.
Rest In Peace Garry Marshall! Thanks for giving us such amazing movies.
