It’s always been a little tense between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift some may go as far to say they have been involved in a feud for a few years now. And Katy’s latest move to release a perfume named ‘Mad Love’ seems to have reignited said feud.
Why would a perfume cause so much trouble, you may ask. Well, rumour has it Katy has taken the name of her new scent directly from Tay’s hit Bad Blood (which many have speculated is about Katy anyway), which contains the line, “You know it used to be mad love”.
‘Mad Love’ is supposed to be a spin-off of Katy’s perfume ‘Mad Poison,’ so perhaps everyone’s looking a little too much into this latest turn of events.
Whatever the story, it’s clear Taylor and Katy have always had bad blood (forgive us). The pair allegedly fell out years ago when Taylor accused Katy of stealing some of her backing dancers and ever since then things have seemed a bit bitter between the pair.
Taylor spoke to Rolling Stone back in 2014 about the feud, stating the following:
“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'”
She continued: “She then did something so horrible, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy!”
