A new trailer for the highly anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuted Thursday (Aug. 11) during the Olympics coverage on NBC, and let’s just say we are even more excited.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the trailer features more of Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, the rogue ex-criminal tasked by the Rebel Forces to steal plans for the Death Star. These events take place right before the first 1977 Star Wars movie begins, in which we meet Luke Skywalker.
Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker and Diego Luna also star with Jones as part of the mission, while Bloodline’s Ben Mendelsohn leads the evil Imperial forces.
There’s also a briefest shot of Darth Vader at the end. James Earl Jones returns as Lord Vader, his first time voicing the character since 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. Watch the trailer above!
Some fans were getting a little impatient for the trailer to air during the Olympics and expressed their frustrations on Twitter.
It was definitely worth the wait. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released Dec. 16.
