American gymnast Simone Biles, showed who’s boss yesterday when she announced “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I’m the first Simone Biles” after scoring her second Olympic gold medal at the Rio Games.
Shutting down any potential sexist remarks from the media, who have a track record of sidelining women in favour of male competitors she spoke up for females the world over.
It was in the individual all-around competition that Biles won yesterday notoriously known as the most difficult section. However, she’s not unfamiliar with nailing it. The 19 year old has won the last 14 all around meets she has entered including three and four US national championships.
After winning yesterday, she said: “I feel like I did my job tonight” and she certainly did, in more ways than one.
We can’t wait to see her compete next.
